THE CYCLE of classical music Hudba v chrámoch / Music in Churches continues in the 2012/2013 philharmonic season, with the Slovak Chamber Orchestra Bohdan Warchal playing on September 23 at 15:00 in the Franciscan Church (Františkánske Square 3) in Bratislava featuring works by Bach, and Te Deum by Marc-Antoine Charpentier together with the Technik choir. IstroCON – The 25th annual anime and pop culture film festival, encompassing sci-fi, fantasy, horror and games, welcomes Japanese producer of anime movies Mitsuhisa Ishkawa. The IstroCON festival will run jointly with the 9th annual Comics Salón comics festival.

Pressburg Dance Fest - Natural Beauty of Woman – The first year of this festival brings together representatives from the Czech Republic, Hungary, Austria and Slovakia, to offer an overview of what is happening in the dance scene. Jazz v Aréne – Jazz in Arena – Every third Thursday of each month, jazz is performed in the Arena theatre; this month will feature the Milo Suchomel X Pro-ject, playing groove and funk and featuring Milo Suchomel (tenor and soprano saxophone), Ondrej Juráši (trumpet), Michal Bugala (guitar), Tomáš Gajlik (piano), Juraj Griglák (double bass), and Martin Valihora (drums).

Just Dance! (or Dobrý večer, Broadway / Good Evening, Broadway!) – Katarína Štumpfová, a dancer/choreographer who rose to fame through television, was inspired by her stay on Broadway to launch a project exploring a new perception of ballroom dance involving “pire dance”, without any words or singing.

River Music – As part of the series of concerts featured on board a cruise ship on the Danube, the Slovak Blues Company / Slovenská bluesová spoločnosť will perform at a launch party for its new album, the River Blues. The evening will wrap up at the U Demžára music pub.

King Shaolin – The popular band is promoting the release of its new album with a series of concerts, one of them on September 20 – where it will be supported by the funk-rock band Magnitude Nine Point Nine.

Ad Libitum – The exhibition of Svätopluk Mikyta and Johannes Schlichting reflects their long-term collaboration, which has lasted since they studied together in Stuttgart. It has been curated from the joint drawings of both artists dating back to the time of their studies.

Mesiac srbskej kultúry v Trnave – The Month of Serbian Culture in Trnava – September is the month picked by the MaxGallery for exhibitions, concerts, screenings and presentations of famous Serbian artists. Accordion-based Duo AS will perform at a concert on September 20.

THE P. M. BOHÚŇ Gallery / Galéria Petra Michala Bohúňa in Liptovský Mikuláš presents an exhibition of 314 drawings by renowned artist of Slovak origin Ladislav Mednyánsky. (The Záhrady maľby / Gardens of Painting exhibition of contemporary Czech painting will run simultaneously.) Curated by Zsófia Kiss Szemán, the Mednyánsky exhibition can be seen until November 17 on the ground floor of the gallery in Tranovského 3 on Tuesdays to Sundays, 10:00 to 17:00, for €1-€3.50.
