FESTIVAL: BLAF 2012 - THE Bratislava Art Festival 2012 – is an event offering a wide range of concerts (such as the opening Business Leaders Rock’n’Roll Band, Billy Barman and Chiki liki-tua on Oct 5), workshops, debates, meetings with artists, film-music-art performances, guided tours, lectures, discussions, the Crazycurators Biennale, and more. OPERA: Maria Theresia – The world premiere of the Austrian composer Roland Baumgartner’s three-act, German-language opera is preceded by a matinée to offer a taste of the neo-romantic work. The opera is conducted by Paul Maffray, who also arranged its musical composition, and directed by Laco Adamik.

WORLD MUSIC: A debate on Iranian traditional music will be followed by a concert by the Ashtee Ensemble, which also plays Kurdish and Turkish music. Songs are arranged for an ensemble of five, and the dominant vocals of Sahar Lotfi will be accompanied by traditional Persian instruments and a piano.

PUPPETERS FESTIVAL: Bábkarská Bystrica / Puppeteers’ Bystrica – The 18th year of the international festival of contemporary puppeteer art is called Double Impulse; the First Impulse is aimed at children aged between seven months and 16 years old, while the Second Impulse is designed for all visitors aged 17 and over.
