POLICE have launched an investigation into an acid attack that occurred in front of the Bratislava II District Court in Bratislava on January 18, the TASR newswire reported.

POLICE have launched an investigation into an acid attack that occurred in front of the Bratislava II District Court in Bratislava on January 18, the TASR newswire reported.

The incident took place shortly after 8:00, when an unknown perpetrator threw acid at two women. One of them, TV Markíza reported, was the 37-year-old wife of an Austrian diplomat and the other was her lawyer.

The two women were rushed to Ružinov Hospital and underwent treatment in the the reconstructive surgery department.

The perpetrator, if caught and found guilty, could face four to 10 years in jail, TASR wrote.
