SLOVAKIA placed 36th in the Index of Economic Freedom out of the 152 countries that participated in the ranking.

“Slovakia’s performance has improved by 0.04 points compared to the last comparison made in 2010; it wasn’t enough to move higher in the ranking,” the F. A. Hayek Foundation non-governmental think tank informed, as reported by the SITA newswire.

The F. A. Hayek Foundation cooperates on conducting the index with other NGOs gathered within the Economic Freedom Network led by the Canada-based Fraser Institute.

Slovakia ranked best in the area of currency stability (15th), as well as in freedom of international trade (17th). Slovakia’s lowest ranking (63rd) was in the area of judiciary and protection of ownership rights.

Hong Kong continues to top the ranking, while Myanmar and Venezuela share the bottom position.
