Revenues increased in wholesale and accommodation in June

THE REVENUES of individual internal trade activities grew in wholesale and accommodation equally by 1.1 percent month-on-month in June, followed by sale and repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles by 0.8 percent, food and beverage service activities by 0.6 percent and in retail trade by 0.2 percent, the Statistics Office (ŠÚ) informed on August 5.

THE REVENUES of individual internal trade activities grew in wholesale and accommodation equally by 1.1 percent month-on-month in June, followed by sale and repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles by 0.8 percent, food and beverage service activities by 0.6 percent and in retail trade by 0.2 percent, the Statistics Office (ŠÚ) informed on August 5.

After a year-on-year decline in the previous month, revenues in the sale and repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles grew again. Compared to June 2013, they rose by 5.6 percent. Revenues for the sale of motor vehicles increased by 7.6 percent, and for the sale of motor vehicle parts and accessories by 4.7 percent. On the other hand, revenues fell in the repair and maintenance of motor vehicles by 0.5 percent.

Revenues in wholesale rose by 7.6 percent in total compared to last year, especially in non-specialised wholesale by 28.6 percent, in the wholesale of food, beverages and tobacco by 23.3 percent and in the wholesale of other machinery and equipment by 14.1 percent. Only revenues for the wholesale of agricultural raw materials and live animals dropped, by 8.8 percent, and other specialised wholesale by 2.9 percent and in the wholesale of household goods by 0.4 percent, according to the ŠÚ.

The overall turnover increase in retail trade by 2.5 percent y/y resulted from growth in retail sales of non-specialised stores by 6.4 percent y/y, automotive fuel in specialised stores by 3.4 percent y/y and other household equipment in specialised stores by 2.9 percent y/y. Revenues dropped mainly in retail sales of information and communication equipment in specialised stores by 10 percent y/y; food, beverages and tobacco in specialised stores by 5.9 percent y/y; and retail sales via stalls and markets by 4 percent y/y.

Revenues in accommodation rose by 3.1 percent y/y, while revenues in food and beverage service activities grew by 5.8 percent y/y.

In the first half of the year, revenues in the sale and repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles rose by 6.7 percent compared to the first half of 2013. This development was influenced by growing revenues in the sale of motor vehicle parts and accessories by 11.7 percent, in the sale of motor vehicles by 6.8 percent, and in the repair and maintenance of motor vehicles by 5.3 percent.

The total revenues in wholesale in the first half of the year rose by 7.3 percent y/y. Growth was recorded in non-specialised wholesale by 28.2 percent y/y; in wholesale of food, beverages and tobacco by 24.1 percent y/y; and in wholesale of other machinery and equipment by 18.1 percent y/y. A decline in revenues was registered in the wholesale of agricultural raw materials and live animals by 9.7 percent y/y and in the wholesale of information and communication equipment by 8.3 percent y/y, the ŠÚ informed.

Revenues in retail trade grew by 3.7 percent y/y, influenced mainly by growth in retail sales in non-specialised stores by 7.1 percent y/y, retail sales of automotive fuel in specialised stores by 6.3 percent y/y and in retail sales of other household equipment in specialised stores by 4.6 percent y/y. Revenues dropped only in the retail sale of recreational and cultural goods by 5.9 percent y/y, in retail sale of food, beverages and tobacco in specialised stores by 5 percent y/y and in retail trade outside stores, stalls or markets by 1.4 percent y/y.
Revenues in accommodation grew by 4 percent y/y, and revenues in food and beverage service activities went up by 2.5 percent y/y, according to the ŠÚ.
