President Andrej Kiska on November 18 appointed new rectors of Matej Bel University in Banská Bystrica and the Košice-based Security Management University.
Vladimír Hiadlovský became the new head of Matej Bel University and Miroslav Kelemen the director of the Security Management University, TASR newswire reported.
Reflecting on the situation in the Slovak education sector, Kiska emphasised the need for change and to set up a right direction for the system and its future. He said that the higher education system should not aim at churning out numerous graduates but at nurturing highly qualified and well-educated people who would be ready to strive for leadership posts in their field.
