SILVESTROVSKÝ beh is a traditional city run in Bratislava that leads runners through the capital’s bridges on New Year’s Eve, December 31, from 10:00. It starts at the University of Economics in Dolnozemská Cesta 1, Petržalka and the 10-kilometre track winds along the Prístavný Most, Apollo, Most SNP, Most Lafranconi, to the finish line near the Botanical Garden. Nutcracker – The famous ballet to the music of Tchaikovsky (this time in the highly-acclaimed choreography version by Vassili Vajnonen), tells the story of Christmas, drawing all people to the national theatre not just children.

OPERA: Johann Strauss – The Bat / Die Fledermaus – Comic opera in three acts, an excellent example of classical Vienna operetta, has become a popular programme for New Year’s Eve; this time it is directed by Miroslav Grisa and conducted by Dušan Štefánek.

Silvestrovský rokenról – New Year’s Eve Rock’n’roll – The tribute band Ramones Bratislava will give a New Year’s Eve concert, the music club offers also festive meals.

Ilúzie / Illusions – The first piece to be played in 2015 with English subtitles within the Bring Your Foreigner project of the Slovak national Theatre (SND) is the Illusions by Russian Ivan Vyrypaev, as directed by Eduard Kukláč to the music of Martin Burlas.

Lady with Two Heads / Dáma s dvomi hlavami; Flowers for Slovakia – Two exhibitions at the Nitra gallery present three works of Slovak artists Magda Stanová (Dáma s dvomi hlavami) and the merging of Slovak folk traditions with modern design (Flowers for Slovakia), this time in a series of furniture.
