Within its “Bring your foreigner along” project, the drama section of the Slovak National Theatre (SND) offers some of its pieces with English subtitles: The Buddenbrooks (a family saga written by Thomas Mann and directed by Roman Polák) on January 7 and 8, British classic turned into a theatre piece, Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte (directed by Marián Amsler) on January 10, and a dramatisation of Gustav Flaubert’s Madame Bovary (directed by Eduard Kudláč)on January 11. The Carpathian Thriller on January 11, directed by Roman Polák, is an original Slovak play, a documentary drama striving to depict the memorable events in Slovakia, connected to corruption, cronyism, and the grey economy.

The Bratislava City Gallery (GMB) presents documentary photos of Russian photographer Yuri Kozyrev in his first-ever Slovak presentation, offering a selection of colour photos from the last 14 years focused mostly on wars and conflicts (including the infamous terrorist operation in the Beslan school) from Iraq, Afghanistan, Yemen, Tunisia, Egypt, Libya, Kashmir, Syria, etc.
