CLASSICAL MUSIC: Festive Concert on Ľudovít Štúr’s 200th  Anniversary – This event (which will later visit also other towns and cities) brings the musical-dramatic work of Slovak composer Egon Krák Pútnici / Pilgrims, hailing the literary and cultural heritage of language codifier/national awakener Ľudovít Štúr and his colleagues Ján Botto, Janko Kráľ, Samo Chalupka and Andrej Sládkovič. The melodrama has seven parts and combines poetry (inspired by the Štúr group) and music in a new musical staging. The second work to be played is Ctibor, a ballad by MIkuláš Moyzes. The Slovak Philharmonics will perform with the Slovak Philharmonic Choir (choir-master Jozef Chabroň), diseurs Dušan Jamrich and Štefan Bučko, as conducted by Rastislav Štúr. Starts: Sep 11, 19:00; Reduta building of SF, E. PC GAMES FESTIVAL: Festival CraftCon – The Czech-organised festival targets fans of Minecraft, YouTube and PC games, offering the chance to learn their characters and meet other on-line fanatics.

TRADITIONAL CRAFTS/RE-ENACTMENT: Salamandrové dni / Salamander Days - The festival hailing the historical local profession, mining, and also old local traditions is called Salmander Days, after the reptile that is said to have discovered the mines in this region. It attracts locals and visitors alike, offering a feast, festivities celebrating miners, geologists, metallurgists, a parade through the centre, and a lot of fun. Starts: Sep 10-12; downtown Banská Štiavnica. PHOTO COMPETITION: Photo-marathon – The globally respected format of competition that takes place at several cities and sites across Slovakia has contestants register, take a series of photographs on a certain theme (or rather 12 themes) which they learn about shortly beforehand – within a six-hour limit. EXHIBITION: Tomáš Rafa – Nový nacionalizmus v srdci Európy / New Nationalism in the Heart of Europe – This exhibition balances on the verge between a documentary and activism, focusing on demonstrations of hatred, xenophobia, and the like.
