Kotleba’s party MP faces bodily harm charge

NEWLY elected MP Andrej Medvecký who represents the far-right Kotleba-People’s Party Our Slovakia (ĽSNS), appeared alongside his brother Jozef in Námestovo District Court on March 10.

The MP is accused of inflicting bodily harm based on racial hatred. According to the prosecution, he attacked a citizen of the Dominican Republic on November 1, 2014.

The accused ran in the March 5 general election as number 9 on the ĽSNS party slate. He is also chairman of the party structure in Žilina  region. He received a total of 4,832 preferential votes in the election.
