Žitňanská to visit Leopoldov after recent prisoner escape

Justice Minister Lucia Žitňanská (Most-Híd) will visit Leopoldov prison in Trnava region next Monday (June 13). From there, convict Ľubomír Behan escaped in June.

Behan, who is still at large, is being hunted by the police, the TASR newswire wrote on June 8. Žitňanská expects the results of an investigation into this case to be prepared. She has not ruled out possible personnel changes in the Prison and Justice Guards Corps (ZVJS) in response to the escape.

“Based on the results, we’ll draw up specific measures and the actions to be taken,” minister added.

Behan has committed the crime of obstructing the execution of a decision of the authorities by fleeing from the prison. He could face between one and five years in jail in addition to his initial sentence of eight years and eight months for robbery, which is considered to be a violent crime.
