Western Slovakia

OUTDOOR: Truck Arena – This is a festival of trucks and large cars, which can be an experience for the whole motoring public and additionally offers musical performances. The 16th year of the Truck Arena takes place in a new area, which will be filled by truckers, carriers or exhibitors. The route will pass through the towns: Dunajská Streda (OC MAX), Šamorín (x-bionic sphere), but also on the track of Slovakia Ring in Orechová Potôň. EXCHANGE: Exchange of antiques - This is suitable for anyone who would like to beautify a flat, house or garden with some antique piece. OPEN-AIR FESTIVAL: Trnavský Jazzyk/ Trnava Jazz/ Trnava Language – The Trnava city has prepared for visitors the thirteen year in a row of the open-air festival Trnava Jazz. The festival has a stable position among events which are held during the cultural summer in the oldest royal city in Slovakia and offers various genres from classic mainstream through fusion, funk, soul, world music to current jazz and domestic, but also foreign artists. EXHIBITION: Denník barmana/ Diary of a Barman - Works by English artist James Prescott will be presented during the exhibition named Diary of a Barman, featuring his newest drawings, paintings and collages. Visitors can await various kinds of oeuvres, for example drawings of large format, black and white, full of detail or bizarre scenes and characters. The artist also reveals to the public a selection of his diary notes, which he started to write three months before the exhibition. The name of the exhibition is a play on words, which is related to two famous works of world culture. EXHIBITION: Draci a drakobijci/ Dragons and Dragonslayers – Visitors have the opportunity to come face to face with fantastic dragons from legends, fairy tales and folk tales, which are well-known from various cultures. Additionally it is possible to see their hunters – dragonslayers together with weapons, which they used for dragon hunting, even with their trophies. Slovenská Ľupča

WRANGLER RALLY: Jeep Wrangler – The last weekend in July brings to this village in central Slovakia, Slovenská Ľupča, the fifth year of a three-day show. The international Jeep Wrangler rally starts with registration in the 200-year-old cellar of Mníchov Court in Slovenská Ľupča and the rally continues under the Ľupča Castle or to the neighbouring village Podkonice. GASTRONOMY FESTIVAL: Horehronský Gurmánfest/ Horehronie GurmanFest - The second year of the festival of tastes and good atmosphere is a celebration of beauty and uniqueness of regional gastronomy and culture. First day of the festival will include a concert, laser and barman show or oldies party. The Second day starts early and cooking skills will be shown also by famous cooks. MUSIC FESTIVAL: Festival Peknej hudby/ Nice Music Festival - This is the 17th year of the festival, which includes an author's concert, an exhibition of  Ladislav Berger, an evening with Peter Zagar, a performance of Helga Bachová (soprano) and Enikö Ginzéry (cimbal), Petrof Piano Trio (CZ), Carl Palmer Band and others. Dlhá nad Oravou

FEAST: Obecné slávnosti pod Ostrým vrchom/ Village Feast under the Ostrý Peak – Three-day-long cultural and sport programme is offered by the 10th Village Feast under the Ostrý Peak in Dlhá nad Oravou. Visitors can await a theatre performance, international table tennis tournament with participation of domestic and foreign teams, gastronomy, folk music and dance, world music and a country evening. Terchová

SUMMER FESTIVAL: Jánošíkove dni 2016/ Jánošík Days – The Village of Terchová is well-known for its musical tradition, which is regularly highlighted by “Terchová public holiday” called also Jánošík Days. Along with the dominant folk music, visitors can await also presentation of other musical genres, openings of exhibitions, folk crafts, ducat stamping, fireworks or an attractive horse wagon parade. Banská Štiavnica

EXHIBITION: Malé vo veľkom/  The Small in the Large – The exhibition curated by Pavel Urban was created by Dorota Sadovská. A selected collection of works and the process of their unconventional installation in individual rooms presents for the author the key artistic moment. A part of the exhibition is also a premiere of the eponymous film portrait created by the Gallery Schemnitz. EXHIBITION: Vyšívané dekorácie/ Embroidered decorations - Visitors will have the possibility to see colourful embroidered decorations on a sacking cloth called juta made by 88-year-old woman Marta Studená. The exhibition offers the chance to see handicrafts, art and patterns on the 50 pieces of wall decorations accompanied by demonstrations of self-growth plants. Poprad

EXHIBITION: Edgar Degas: The naked truth - Edgar Degaswas one of the the most important painters, cartoonists, graphic artists, innovative sculptors and photographers of the 19th century. The exhibition of his works from a private collection is titled The naked truth, heliogravura series of cycle La Famille Cardinal. Collection of illustrations offers a view of French society, Paris streets and nightlife through the works of this impressionist master.
