Citizens of Banská Bystrica have a new smart bench

Citizens of Banská Bystrica can charge their mobile phones or connect to the internet in the Námestie Slobody square.

The smart bench is equipped with a wireless charger with two intelligent USB connectors, which charges mobile phones and protects the battery at the same time.

Internet connection is accessible 24 hours per day up to four metres away from the bench. The new accessory is charged via solar energy, and is resistant to vandalism and bad weather. The seat can warm up even in the winter.

“I believe that in the era of Smartphones, every age category of citizens or visitors will use the bench,” said Ján Nosko, mayor of Banská Bystrica.

The bench is part of the project Intelligent City; a similar one was also placed in Košice.
