“The new Discovery is a hit for customers, which confirms our decision to start producing this car as the main product of the Slovak plant, alongside its production in the UK’s Solihull plant,” said Wolfgang Stadler of Jaguar Land Rover, as quoted by the SITA newswire.

The Slovak plant, which is expected to launch production in 2018, will increase the production capacity in Solihull, which currently covers the demands for production in three shifts, 24 hours a day in order to meet the global demands for the Range Rover, Range Rover Sport and new Jaguar F-PACE. These models have helped the carmaker to increase its sales by 23 percent year-on-year in October, SITA wrote.

The company will invest £1 billion into the new plant in Nitra, which should result in creating some 2,800 new jobs. The plant is expected to produce 150,000 vehicles a year.
