CONCERT: David Koller & Friends 2017 – Czech musician David Koller has embarked on a tour, in which his songs are performed by other Czech and Slovak musicians and bands who are guests at his concerts: Katarzia, Korben Dallas, Vladimír 518 & Mike Trafik, Kato of Prago Union, Hentai Corporation, Android Asteroid and Ben Cristovao, among others. In February, they will tour Slovakia, making a stop in Žilina, Jasná, Trenčín, Košice and Banská Bystrica, with a Valentine concert in Bratislava, and finishing at Nitra. CONCERT: Carnival Concert of Gipsy Devils / Cigánski Diabli – The Carnival season brings many cultural and social events and one of them is the concert of the renowned Slovak orchestra (Štefan Banyák – first violin, Ernest Šarközi - cymbalom, Silvia Šarközi – cello and Zoltán Grunza – clarinet) playing classical music, operettas in fusion with jazz, flamenco, and gipsy music. JAZZ: Winter Jazzfest Trnava 2017 – The one-day jazz festival brings two Slovak groups and a foreign one: the Pacora Trio (Stanislav Palúch, Marcel Komendant, Róbert Ragan), Partnership Unlimited II (Oskar Rózsa – Michal Bugala – EugenVizváry – Lukáš Oravec) and the Austrian/Italian Raphael Wressnig & The Soul Gift Band. They offer various genres, from jazz and folkl fusion (Pacora Trio) through electronic jazzrock (Partnership Unlimited II) to blues-funk (Raphael Wressnig & The Soul Gift Band). CONCERT: Movits! - The Swedish band with three members combines swing and hip-hop in a unique way. SLEIGH RACE: The race of vintage wooden sleighs, krne or krňačky brings fun, as well as a sporting thrill. In Staré Hory near Banská Bystrica, there is a new track which will host the 9th year of the international race of Staré Hory and the Slovak Krňačky Race Cup.

CONCERT: Swinging Gentlemen – A Slovak group (Michal Zápotocký – guitar, Martin Uherek – saxophone, Róbert Ragan Jr. double bass, Emanuel Görči – piano) will take visitors back to the era of nice, soft but vivid music, good manners and decent clothes - when swing was the king. OPERA: Georges Bizet – The Pearl Fishers / Lovci Perál – This lesser-known opera is considered by experts the second best, after Carmen, from the work of this French composer. This version is conducted by Igor Bulla, directed by Andrea Hlinková, choreographed by Ladislav Cmorej and performed by Katarzyna Mackiewicz, Peter Malý as guest, Šimon Svitok, Ivan Zvarík, and others. CLASSICAL MUSIC: The Alphorn, or Alpine horn, is an instrument not typically associated with classical music but this concert offers the works of Leopold Mozart (Sinfonia Pastorela for Alphorn and Orchestra), and Giovanni d'Aquila (The Great Horn of Helm for Alphorn and String Orchestra). Also on offer are Antonín Dvořák and his Romance for Volin and Orchestra, Op. 11, Mazurka for Violin and Orchestra, Op. 49, and Beethoven' Symphony No 8 F Major, Op. 93). They will be performed by the Slovak Sinfonietta (ŠKO) conducted by Maroš Potokár, with Carlo Torlontano, Italy, on alphorn and Czech Julie Svěcená on violin. FILM FESTIVAL: 4 Živly / Four Elements – The 6th winter film festival has Fate as its leitmotif, and brings – apart form movies – guests and music at various sites in this town (Kino Akademik, Sv. CONTEMPORARY DANCE: Evening of Modern Dance – The dance theatre Bralen of Bratislava presents a selection of its performances. CLASSICAL MUSIC: Quasars Ensemble & Košice – This concert by the Slovak orchestra commemorates Jozef Sixta, the bard of Slovak avant-garde, within the seventh year of the cycle Quasars Ensemble & Košice. Apart from the ensemble conducted by Ivan Buffa, it will feature Polish composer Marcel Chyrzyński whose work Reflection No. 4 will be performed in a Slovak premiere. Other works to be performed include Bohuslav Martinů – Kitchen Revue, Jozef Sixta – Noneto, and Oto Ferenczy – Concertino pre 10 Stromenti.

CLASSICAL MUSIC: Operatic Evening – This concert by the State Slovak Philharmonic Košice (ŠfK) brings famous arias from Italian and Russian operas, as performed by ŠfK conducted Viktor Ploskina, with tenor Mikhailo Malafij. The compsoers whose works will resound include Gaetano Donizetti, Giuseppe Verdi, Giacomo Puccini, P.I. Tchaikovky, M.I. Glinka, and M.P. Mussorgsky. CONCERT: GrooveHub & Cha Bud! – Two Slovak bands offer an evening of musical mergers: GrooveHub (Ľubomír Šramo – keyboard, composer; Radovan Vallach – drums; Adam Hudec – bass) plays a fusion of jazz, Latino and film music (and its Enter the Hub received the Jazz Album of the Year award). Cha Bud! OPERETTA: Johann Strauss: Night in Venice – One of the most successful operettas of the famous composer will be premiered at the State Theatre Košice (SDKE) as directed by Dagmar Hlubková, conducted by Igor Dohovič, Jan Novobilský, with stage designer Jaroslav Milfajt, costume designer Danica Hanáková and choreographer Ivana Kučerová.
