According to representatives of plot owners, the mayor asked for a bribe at several meetings: either the €20,000, or transfer of ownership rights to plots in his village – not specified in more detail as of now.

“Of course, he promised to file the master plan of the village, profitable for them, to be approved by the municipal council,” Police President Tibor Gašpar said on March 23, as cited by the SITA newswire. He added that Štefan B., aged 52, has been continuing this behaviour between September 2016 and mid-March 2017.

He was charged on March 22 and then, on March 22, the charge was widened in one more crime, from 2011, which was also connected with construction proceedings. He had then asked for approximately €330,000 cash or 20 percent of the value of unspecified plots.

On March 15, police also charged the mayor of the Bratislava borough of Devínska Nová Ves of indirect corruption which he allegedly committed when he, as a mediator, offered a bribe of €5,000 to an employee of the district office for approving the processing of waste for a private company.
