CLASSICAL MUSIC: The Slovak Sinfonietta (ŠKO Žilina) gives a concert at Piešťany, with Martin Leginus as conductor, and soloists Eva Hornyáková-soprano, Terézia Kružliaková-mezzosoprano, Martin Gyimesi-tenor, and Martin Malachovský-bass, with Peter Mikula on organ and the Lúčnica choir. FILM/BALLET: Jewels / Drahokamy – Artmax Ballet – The French ballet classics by George Balanchin combine the music of Gabriel Fauré which evokes the lyricism of “emeralds”, of Igor Stravinsky who offers the fire of “rubies” and the jazz energy of New York, with the music of P.I. Tchaikovsky that reminds us of “diamonds” and the majesty of the Imperial-times Russian ballet. The ballet film is recommended for adults and children over 12.
