CLASSICAL MUSIC: Zuzana Vontorčíková – A piano recital by the young musician presents almost all facets of classical music – from the sonata (Joseph Haydn: Sonata No. 60 C Major) through to ballads (Fryderyk Chopin: Ballads G Minor, F Major, As Major, F Minor. Vontorčíková has been playing since the age of four, with successes at many Slovak and international competitions. EXHIBITION/FESTIVAL: Emilio Isgrò – The 10th year of the festival of Italian culture, Dolce Vita, has been opened by the exhibition of the world-renowned artist, Emilio Isgrò – as curated by Laura Monaldi – the first of this multi-talented personality in Slovakia. Isgrò is a conceptual painter and artist, poet, dramaturgist and director. EXHIBITION/MUSEUM: Salvador Dalí – I Am Surrealism! – Various rare artworks by the legendary painter, sculptor, filmmaker, designer, writer and illustrator are exhibited within this exhibition. OPERA: Richard Wagner: Fairies / Feen – The Košice State Theatre (SDKE) offers this lesser-known work of Wagner (influenced strongly by Carl Maria von Weber and Heinrich Marschner) in a Slovak premiere, rehearsed (and conducted, together with Jan Novobilský, by Robert Jindra, directed by Lubor Cukr, with costumes by Josef Jelínek, stage design by Jaromír Vlček, choirmaster Lukáš Kozubík and other artists involved. SPORT: Slovak Championship in Track Cycling – After a break of more than 10 years, the Prešov velodrome hosts track cyclists from all over Slovakia at the offical Championship of the Slovak Republic, in a two-day event. SPORT/CHARITY: A special cycling event passes through Slovak territory every year, full of disabled athletes and aimed at highlighting their situation but also their ambitions and successes. This time around, in its 10th year, the popular charity event, the Hudba bez bariér / Music without Barriers concert coincides with this contest, taking place on May 30 in Banská Bystrica – featuring the Desmod band, singers Sima Martausová and Martin Harich. SPORT: Rajec High Tatras Night Run 2017 – The special night run that takes competing athletes on two tracks – 5 kilometres and 10 kilometres – across the High Tatras with a 1.5-hour time limit, starts at the Štrbské Pleso ski resort.
