Three policemen who last year chased a driver, aged 22, and upon catching her, kicked and beat her, made a deal with the prosecutor.

Part of the video recording of the police action near Hlohovec was leaked, showing – among other things – a police officer running behind the fleeing car and shooting at it, the aktuality.sk website wrote.

The police had already tried to stop the female driver, who was very probably under the influence of drugs, in the city of Trnava. However, they finally caught up with her 20 kilometres away. Later, the second part of the video was also leaked, showing how officers repeatedly kicked the already shot and motionless woman as she was lying on the ground.

In March this year, all three police officers were released from service and they faced the charge of abuse of powers by a public official in the form of complicity, with a potential sentence of four to ten years in prison.

However, they made a plea bargain deal with the prosecutor, according to TV Markíza, and, if the court confirms the deal, they will ultimately end up with a three years’ suspended sentence. In addition, they are required to attend psychological counselling.
