A van carrying eleven people – including two minors and one child – was stopped by the Slovak police on the outskirts of Bratislava near the Austrian border.
The vehicle had Austrian licence plates and was driven by a 38-year-old Slovak, the TASR newswire wrote on July 26. “They probably crossed the Hungarian-Slovak border with the intention to enter Austria,” the Slovak police wrote on a social network.
The driver attempted to flee after stopping the vehicle, but the officers caught him within a few moments. The driver could spend up to ten years in prison if convicted, and the migrants were taken by the Foreigners’ Police.
