Measha Brueggergosman

Slovenské národné divadlo, Bratislava-Staré Mesto; 2017-08-25, Friday, 19:00

The Canadian soprano, Measha Brueggergosman is among the elite of the world's opera performers, but apart from opera she devotes herself primarily to art songs and concert singing. In her native Canada she is regarded as an ambassador for classical music, someone who disrupts the stereotype of the opera diva in all respects. Surprise, her first recording for Deutsche Grammophone, featuring songs by W. Bolcom, A. Schoenberg and E. Satie, is regarded as a particularly impressive debut. A further recording, Night and Dreams quickly gained several important awards, and for her recording of Wagner’s Wesendonck Lieder, accompanied by The Cleveland Orchestra conducted by Franz Welser-Möst, Measha Brueggergosman was nominated for a Grammy Award. She also collaborated as a soloist in the recording of the Songs of Innocence and Experience by William Bolcom, which immediately received three Grammy Awards in 2005, including in the ‘Best Classical Album’ category.
In the Viva Musica! festival concert she will perform Wagner’s Wesendonck Lieder, accompanied by the Viva Musica! Orchestra, and in the second half a selection of spirituals arranged for symphony orchestra from her latest album Songs of Freedom. Admission fee: €25 - €55.
