The 33-year-old racer is now on her way to Europe where she will undergo further medical checks. It is already clear that she will be unable to attend the beginning of the new Olympic season, which starts with the World Cup 2017/2018 slalom in Levi, Finland on November 11, as well as the following race in Killington, USA on November 25.

The current season was to be the last by the Slovak skier who wanted to bid farewell by winning a small globe in the World Cup slalom.

“It is the same as four years ago,” Velez-Zuzulová said about her injury, as quoted by the Šport daily, adding that this time it is her right knee, not the left one.

She could not say what will happen next as she is waiting for the examination by a top physiotherapist in Austria.

Píšem or pišám?

"Do ľava," (to the left) I yelled, "Nie, do prava" (no, to the right), I gasped. "Dolšie," I screamed. "Nie, nie, horšie..." My Slovak girlfriend collapsed in laughter. Was it something I said?
