A Slovak citizen was detained at London’s Stansted airport at 21:05 on November 30 after he made threats on an aircraft concerning an alleged bomb, the British police have confirmed for the Slovak Embassy in London.
The man is currently being held in custody and has not requested assistance from the Slovak Embassy in London, Igor Skoček of the Foreign Ministry informed the TASR newswire.
A 34-year-old Slovak man threatened passengers on a plane travelling from Bratislava to London on Thursday, proclaiming he had a bomb, news website Netky.sk, as well as several tabloids, reported. Passengers on the plane included the wives and girlfriends of famous Slovak ice-hockey players. A police unit arrested the suspect at Stansted airport.
After landing far from the airport buildings, the Ryanair aircraft was searched by the police. No explosives or other dangerous substances were found on the man or onboard the plane.
Two people were escorted off of the plane but one was later released. Only the 34 year-old man was detained.
