The judge of the Specialised Criminal Court in Banská Bystrica accused the MP of the far-right Peoples Party - Our Slovakia (ĽSNS), Milan Mazurek, of defamation of nation, race and belief in concurrence with the crime of defamation and threatening people due to their race, nationality, skin colour and ethnicity.
Mazurek committed the deed as a public official during the broadcast of the Radio Frontinus in October 2016.
The judge ruled that Mazurek pay €5,000 as a penalty for his crime. The ruling is not effective yet. Mazurek already announced that he would appeal against the verdict, which he called absurd and politically motivated, and as having just one aim: "to threaten and discourage us from further political work and fighting for the rights of all decent people," he said as quoted by TASR.
The prosecution also plans to appeal against the verdict, arguing that the penalty is too mild, TASR reported.
