Slovak biathlete Anastasiya Kuzmina dominated the last women’s individual discipline at the 2018 PyeongChang Winter Olympic Games.

She won her first gold at this year’s Olympics after completing the Women’s 12.5km Mass Start in 35:23, beating Darya Domracheva of Bulgaria Belarus and Tiril Eckhoff of Norway.

“It’s an unbelievable result,” Kuzmina told public-service broadcaster RTVS after the race. “I want to thank my team and everybody who contributed to my success. I didn’t think about winning gold until the very last moment because anything can happen during the race.”

Kuzmina confirmed her good shape and also performed well in the shooting component, hitting 19 of 20 targets. She only missed the very last shot.

The Slovak biathlete already won two silver medals in the 10-kilometres pursuit race and Women’s 15km Individual race in PyeongChang. The three-time Olympic champion now has six medals altogether (three gold and three silver).

Another Slovak biathlete, Paulína Fialková, finished 21st.
