A week ago it still looked like early elections were the most likely option in Slovakia, but PM Robert Fico surprised the nation when he announced on March 15 that he would resign - which he did the day after.
That did not stop people from going out to the squares around Slovakia in protest against the government of Robert Fico. Protesting public does not trust the outgoing PM anymore, and they worry Pellegrini will only be a puppet in Fico's hands.
Fico will be replaced in his post by Peter Pellegrini, who served as the deputy PM for informatisation and investment in his cabinet.
Amid the biggest political crisis Slovakia has experienced since 1998, the Bratislava department of the immigration office (the Border and Alien Police Office) has moved to a new building.
