There is no air conditioning in the production halls of the Jaguar Land Rover factory in Nitra.

The August measurements of microclimate conditions at selected workplaces have shown that the “temperature limit was exceeded at all workplaces that were measured for all classes of work”, the Modern Trade Union Jaguar Land Rover Slovakia informed through social networks.

At the time of measurement, the outside air temperature was 31 degrees Celsius and the sky was partly overcast, the SITA newswire reported.

What measures have been taken?

Trade union head Peter Mrázik expressed “concern over the planning of production halls without air conditioning in central Europe alongside the trend of global warming”, as reported by SITA.

“When I think about the issue in terms of economics, how much will be lost for each shutdown in the future, the cost of an air-conditioning unit is absolutely negligible,” he added, as quoted by SITA.

The carmaker responded that employees were guaranteed a drinking regime throughout the year.

“Temperature breaks have taken place over the past few weeks in accordance with current legislation,” said Alexandra Sabolová of Jaguar Land Rover Slovakia’s communications office, as quoted by SITA.

The company failed to answer the question of whether air-conditioning was planned for its production halls.
