Tatra Mountain Resorts (TMR) has changed the way it sells ski passes during this year's ski season.

Skiers can buy a ski pass for €12 on their first ski trip, €36 at Christmas, and €16 in the spring.

The change in prices will be subject to several factors this season, and the whole system will resemble a flight booking system.

Until recently, TMR has offered its ski passes for a steady price throughout the season. The company hopes it will manage to disperse skiers evenly across the season and resolve the issue of overloaded ski lifts due to the new system.

"I can plan a better ski trip if there is a possibility of buying a ski pass much earlier," said Kamila Roobová, a journalist writing for the OnTheSnow ski portal.

Other ski resorts in Slovakia approached by the SME daily do not intend to change the way they sell ski passes. Some of them are planning to increase the price of a day ski pass, however.
