Three Slovak universities among best in the world

Comenius University and Slovak University of Technology in Bratislava, alongside Pavol Jozef Šafárik University in Košice, have entered the rankings.

Slovakia has three of its universities among the 1,250 best schools in the Best Global Universities rankings.

Comenius University (UK) in Bratislava placed the best. It ranked 533rd, while Pavol Jozef Šafárik University (UPJŠ) in Košice came 934th and the Slovak University of Technology in Bratislava (STU) 1,121st.

Taking into consideration only European universities, UK comes in 241st, UPJŠ jumped to 378th, and STU to 442nd place, the SITA newswire reported.

Universities praise the results

“UK did exceptionally well in the field of physics, coming 144th out of 600 universities ranked,” said its spokesperson Lenka Miller, as quoted in a press release.

UK shares its place with the University of Genoa, Italy, and University of Lisbon, Portugal.

“A good placement in prestigious rankings cannot be achieved without long-term quality work,” commented Pavol Sovák, UPJŠ rector, as quoted by SITA.

The best school is Harvard

As the ranking suggests, Harvard University is the best university in the world, while Oxford has been named the best university in Europe, SITA reported.

Best Global Universities rankings evaluates 13 indicators, focusing on the research and their worldwide reputation. Universities from over 70 countries have been listed in the rankings.
