Spectacular Slovakia #18: Be a miner for a day

You cannot walk more than a few metres without seeing some symbol of Banská Štiavnica’s rich mining history.

Listen to the podcast:

When you descend into one of the mines of Banská Štiavnica, you literally feel the weight of the world on your shoulders, says Dave Rubin in another episode of our podcast. Yet Štiavnica also offers many uplifting experiences. Exploring one of the “ten million hiking trails” winding through the beautiful, natural aftermath of an ancient volcanic explosion is undoubtedly one of them.

And after a day of walking in the shoes of a miner in one of the interactive museums and hiking through the town’s picturesque hills, you can always find a nice place to unwind and “wet your whistle” in the UNESCO-protected town.

The Spectacular Slovakia travel podcast is the latest addition to our range of travel-related products. This programme is part of The Slovak Spectator subscription and our readers receive it every Thursday morning as part of their subscription.
