The shopping centre on Komenský street in Levice will grow in size.
Archaeological research is ongoing around the centre, which was built in 2005. It seems that interesting artefacts can be found here, regional website My Levice wrote.
“In three grooves, 25 objects were found,” said archaeologist Pavel Paterka of the Regional Monuments Board Nitra, as quoted by My Levice, who started with the research in March.
Mixed together
The research was continued by private archaeological company AA Terra Antiqua, which was ordered by the investor of the shopping centre, My Levice wrote. Archaeologist Ján Haruštiak confirmed the first findings.
“They are from the 17th and 18th centuries,” he said, as quoted by My Levice. "We also found prehistory destroyed by objects of modern times.”

During the research, they found another curiosity. “It is a toy gun. It was found in the well. However, it cannot be classified as an archaeological finding,” Haruštiak said, as quoted by My Levice. It probably originates from the last century.

“There was not much human material,” he said, as quoted by My Levice.
The objects will be cleaned by the experts and documented. The Regional Monuments Board Nitra will then decide what they will do with the archaeological findings. Haruštiak anticipates that they will end up in the local museums.
