As of July 1, the eKasa online cash register system will be introduced in Slovakia. On that day, the Financial Administration is automatically canceling the registration of older, online cash registers. It is the biggest reform in the system since cash registers were introduced in 1995.
Businesses that already own an online cash register will need to invest hundreds or euros into updating it or, alternatively, buying a new device to be able to use the eKasa system.

The fact that the system of cash registers is going online does not mean that the list of professions required to issue cash register receipts is changing in any way. If you are using a cash register now, you need to switch to eKasa on June 30 at the latest.
This includes restaurants, cafes, grocery stores, drug stores or clothes shops, as well as those who provide services like hairdressers, medical doctors, translators, or photographers.
In general, cash registers must be used by all entrepreneurs who accept cash payments for any goods or services in the territory of Slovakia.
This also goes for cashless payments, with paycards. Similarly, entrepreneurs who have their invoices paid in cash need to register those payments with cash registers. Payments for invoices through cash deposits to bank accounts do not require registration with a cash register.
