Some Slovaks welcomed their first "tropical" day of the year, which is the day when the temperature climbs to 30 Celsius degrees or beyond, on Monday, June 3.
“The 'tropical' day was recorded at weather stations in Prievidza, Slovenský Grob and Horné Lefantovce,” the Slovak Hydrometeorological Institute (SHMÚ) informed on Facebook.
All three towns are located in different locations of western Slovakia. Other regions will still have to wait for their first 'tropical' day of 2019.
Yet, little was needed for the Banská Bystrica Region and the Zemplín region in eastern Slovakia to experience it on June 3 as the temperature nearly reached 30 Celsius degrees, SHMÚ wrote.
In 2018, the first "tropical" had already arrived on April 29, when the temperature climbed to 30.1 Celsius degrees in Holíč (Trnava Region).
