After almost nine years, a train connection between Poprad and the Polish spa town of Muszyna was renewed.

Two regional fast trains will commute during the summer months until September 1, twice a day during weekends. They will stop in Kežmarok, Spišská Belá, Podolínec, Stará Ľubovňa and Plaveč. Besides this line, there will be another: Medzilaborce – Lupków – Sanok.

The train to Muszyna starts at 7:30 and 15:27 in Poprad. It reaches the final destination at 9:10 and 17:21. From Muszyna back to Poprad it starts at 9:58 and 17:50.

“There will also be public transport buses at the train station in Stará Ľubovňa, which will take people to Ľubovňa Castle and back,” said Milan Majerský, chairman of the Prešov self-governing region, as quoted by the SITA newswire. Tourists can see the castle in Ľubovňa and then continue to Muszyna.

Region of Andy Warhol

The seasonal train from Medzilaborce to the town of Sanok commutes twice a day on Saturdays and once a day on Sundays.

“The Slovak-Polish borderlands have much to offer,” said Majerský, as quoted by SITA. “Slovak tourists can visit the biggest open-air folk museum in Poland. Poles can look at the region of Andy Warhol.” He added that they want to connect regions and develop tourism in this area.

This train starts every Saturday at 10:31 and 17:48, on Sundays only at 17:48. It reaches the final destination of Sanok at 12:13 and 19:28 on Saturdays, and at 19:28 on Sundays. The scheduled departure from Sanok is at 8:35 and 15:54 on Saturdays and 8:35 on Sundays. It reaches Medzilaborce at 10:24 and 17:36.

The price of a ticket from Medzilaborce to Sanok is €3.20 and from Poprad to Muszyna €5.
