The very first case of African swine fever has been diagnosed in Slovakia in the village of Strážne, Trebišov district. The village is situated close to the Hungarian border, the Sme daily reported.
“The disease was confirmed by laboratory tests of biological material in the national referential laboratory,” said Daniel Hrežík of the Agriculture Ministry’s press department, as quoted by Sme.
Slovakia has already informed the EU bodies about the disease outbreak.

They marked out a protection zone three kilometres from the outbreak point, along with another 10-kilometre surveillance zone.
