Slovaks will be able to use their electronic ID cards in all EU members states, the Interior Ministry informed on its website.
The European Commission has approved the notification of the Slovak electronic identification (eID) scheme at the highest level of security. This means all member states should now recognise Slovak electronic ID cards and electronic residence permits for foreigners, the ministry said.
“Slovak citizens and foreigners with permanent residence in Slovakia will be able to handle their agenda abroad from the comfort of their home via the internet,” Interior Ministry Denisa Saková (Smer) said.
