Instead of investigating the Gorilla corruption case, ex-general prosecutor Dobroslav Trnka hid the recording in his safe for Marian Kočner. After he left the post in 2011, he and his two accomplices tried to blackmail Jaroslav Haščák, co-owner of the Penta financial group, who is heavily featured in the transcribed file that leaked to the internet in late 2011.

After learning what they had done, Kočner threatened them with murder, and even recorded the conversation.

The Denník N daily now published the recording of a debate between Kočner and Trnka from summer 2014 that lasts 70 minutes. It suggests the influence Kočner had on Trnka.

“I want to know who copied the samples you had sent to Haščák,” Kočner told Trnka, as quoted by Denník N. “I want to know how many copies have been made, apart from the one I took from you. I want to know why you did it and why you lied to me. So start talking.”

Kočner goes on to threaten Trnka and his son.

The police have had the recording since November 2018, and they already received an expert opinion confirming that the voices belong to Kočner and Trnka, and that the discussion had not been manipulated or altered.

They have not pressed any charges yet, claiming they are still investigating the case, Denník N wrote.

Trnka still serving as prosecutor

Trnka left the office in 2011, after serving seven years as the general prosecutor. At the time, the media already suspected him of making decisions in favour of Kočner. He, for example, decided on releasing Jozef Majský, suspected of embezzling the non-governmental companies BMG Invest and Horizont, and ordered to stop prosecution in the Gorilla case.
