Kriváň Summit, located in the High Tatras, is regarded as a symbol of Slovakia. Each Slovak is practically expected to climb it at least once in their lifetime.

Mountaineer Ľubomír Mäkký of the hiking.sk website says hiking to Kriváň once is enough, for both Slovaks and foreigners. He suggests hiking up to mountain huts is an easy and worthwhile alternative to demanding hikes to peaks.

This week’s Spectacular Slovakia episode, therefore, uncovers what Chata pri Zelenom plese chalet, known as “Brnčalka”, Chata pod Rysmi chalet, and Zbojnícka chata chalet have to offer. One of them even provides an outhouse with an enchanting view of the mountains.

Aside from mountain chalets, of which there are many in the High Tatras, Spectacular Slovakia shares tips for other hikes in these mountains, involving peaks and saddles. Time to have a listen and take a hike!
