News about detaining one of the former most powerful men in the country is a breakthrough moment for justice in Slovakia, President Zuzana Čaputová wrote on Facebook.

As she stressed, this could be said about any state where the head of the prosecutor’s office was put behind bars and faced a decision on a criminal prosecution in custody.

“In order to start a real purification in our judiciary, we need to know the truth,” Čaputová continued. “I hope we’ll learn it during a fair process with Trnka and the others who contributed to abusing justice.”
