Part-time jobs unpopular in Slovakia

WITHIN the European Union Slovakia has one of the lowest rates of people working part-time.

While in 2007 an average of 18.2 percent of employees in the EU worked part-time, in Slovakia it was only 2.6 percent.

Only Bulgaria recorded a lower number of part-time workers (1.7 percent). Part-time working was also rare in Hungary (4.1 percent) and the Czech Republic (5 percent), the SITA newswire reported, citing data from Eurostat.

The Netherlands had the highest proportion of part-time workers, 46.8 percent, followed by Germany (46.8 percent), Great Britain (25.5 percent) and Sweden (25 percent).
