THE BUDAPEST TIMES and its sister paper BUDAPESTER ZIETUNG are the only weeklies in their respective languages in Hungary, having come out on top in long-running market battles, although at one time both were the new the kids on the block. THE KYIV POST is Ukraine's leading English-language newspaper. It has developed a sterling reputation for outstanding reporting, independent opinion and world-class journalism. The Kyiv Post played a vital role as one of the few independent media outlets under former President Leonid Kuchma. Over the years, the weekly newspaper has led the charge for a free press in Ukraine, and has played roles in the Georgiy Gongadze scandal, the Orange Revolution and other significant Ukrainian events. It is produced by a team of Western and Ukrainian journalists. Launched in 1995, the newspaper's circulation is 25,000 copies.
THE PRAGUE POST is the leading English-language source of news and life in Prague and the Czech Republic. THE SLOVAK SPECTATOR is Slovakia's only English-language newspaper. It is published weekly and covers local news, business and culture. THE SOFIA ECHO is Bulgaria's national English-language newspaper, covering current affairs, business, politics and lifestyle stories of relevance to foreigners living and working in the country. Launched in 1997, the newspaper is published weekly and has a circulation of around 3000 copies, distributed via leading hotels, entertainment venues, central news kiosks and by subscription. The Sofia Echo has earned itself a reputation as an objective source of news and analysis about Bulgaria and the South East Europe region. The newspaper now also boasts the leading English-language website about Bulgaria, attracting around 300,000 impressions per month with daily news, commentary and blogs.
