Slovak companies use so many robots that their number has nearly doubled in the last two years.

In 2015, firms installed 79 robots per 10,000 workers in Slovakia, but there were 151 robots per 10,000 workers in 2017, according to the data produced by the International Federation of Robotics (IFR), the TASR newswire reported.

Robots are mostly implemented in production, as in painting or welding, said Martin Jesný from the Industry4UM discussion platform.

"85 robots per 10,000 employees is the new average for global robot density in the manufacturing industries," IFR said in the press release.

Industries discover robotic automation

The metal industry marked the highest increase in setting up robots last year, TASR reported.

Nonetheless, the car industry, which shares one third of Slovakia's industrial market, remains a leader in implementing robotic devices.

"Car manufacturers may have attained a certain level of saturation," claimed Jesný, as quoted by TASR.

Their suppliers should now follow a phase where more robots are introduced in their processes.

The electrical engineering sector also managed to reach the same number of robots as the automobile industry last year, TASR wrote.

A rapid growth in robotic automation has furthermore been observed in logistics and in the sector of service robots.
