Czech Christmas Mass / česká mše vánoční – The special Christmas mass, composed in 1796 by J.J. Ryba, will be sung by an amateur choir from Dolné Bojanovice in an authentic environment of a cathedral.

Ponte Pardo – The band playing flamenco, but also works of Paco de Lucia, Vicente Amigo and Gerardo Nunez, is giving a concert, followed by a tombola and a Latino disco.

Slovak Philharmonic (SF) gives a series of concerts, conducted by its chief conductor Emanuelle Villaume. On December 11 and 12, SF will be joined by Jerôme Pernoo on cello to perform works of Benjamin Britten, Jacques Offenbach and Robert Schumann.

Doma dobre / It is Good to Be Home – The concert of Korben Dallas (SK), Lola Marsh (IST), Puding pani Elvisovej (SK) strives to collect money for operating the most accessible shelter for the homeless and to illuminate their struggles, marking also the end of the Month without a Home /Mesiac bez domova aimed at this social group. Banda & Vranky – The Slovak band which managed to make it onto the international chart of ethno and world music, Banda, joined forces with the female folklore troupe Vranky from Nitra to celebrate the “witches’ days”, as the magic period around St Lucia’s Day came to be known in old Slovak traditions.

Juraj Griglák and his Company (Eugen Vizváry – keyboard, Martin Valihora – drums, Michal Bugala – guitar) launch the only second album of Griglák called Time to Fly. Jazzman Griglák is allegedly so busy playing live that he managed only his second album after 12 years, influenced by funk, rock and classical music.

THE U ANJELA / At the Angel gallery in Starý Trh 53 in Kežmarok presents until January 15 combining an exhibition of two Slovak painters, Martin Oscity and Peter Marček. Both express a rich, spiritual inner world and colourful imaginative creativity, each of them through slightly different means and techniques: Oscity, who lives in Munich, combines aesthetics of form, mystics and quantum mechanics; while Marček, living in Trenčín, uses a demanding, lengthy technique.

Na skle maľované / Painted on Glass – The popular musical by Katarzyna Gärtner and Ernest Bryll, rooted in the folklore and shared Slovak/Polish legend of bandit Juro Jánošík as its comical version, will be premiered anew in the State Theatre in Košice (SDKE), this time hosting also students of conservatory (“bandits”) as opposed to adult SDKE actors (gendarmes).
