THE NEW Czech-Slovak coproduction Neverné hry (Faithless Games) by Michaela Pavlátová, which is currently being screened in cinemas around Slovakia, won a special prize at the 51st annual Donostia-San Sebastian International Film Festival. According to film experts, the festival can be compared to the film festival in Cannes.
For the third time, the Czech Republic participated in the festival's competition, named Altadis - New Director. This year's seven-member international jury decided to award one main and two special prizes from the 16 selected movies.
The movie by Pavlátová won the special award for what the festival's official statement calls "the subtle touch and accuracy in the way it handles man-woman relationships".
