THE LONG-AWAITED movie by Juraj Jakubisko, a Slovak film director, has finally made it onto the silver screen.
The film, which centres on the legendary Blood Countess of Čachtice, Elisabeth Báthory, premiered in Bratislava on June 28, the Jakubisko Film Slovakia production company told The Slovak Spectator. Slovak President Ivan Gašparovič, PM Robert Fico, and other representatives of the political and cultural scene arrived to see the most expensive film produced in Central Europe.
The film is made with three language tracks: apart from the basic English, there was also Slovak and Czech. Slovak cinemas will start screening Bathory on July 10.
