The exhibition is called Latter-day Romanticism; with the subtitle Nature and Landscape, Nostalgic Pathos and Utopian Idealism as Principles in the Artistic Production of the Rising Generation.
Janušová’s concept concentrates on artists born mainly in the second half of 1980s who have not experienced communism, and are thus used to work and create in unlimited freedom of expression, and consequently includes protest against the establishment and setting of the modern world, GMB writes. This selection comprises the artists’ (Marek Burcl, András Cséfalvay, Dominik Hlinka, Miroslava Kučišová, Soňa Patúcová, Zuzana Pustaiová, Erik Sikora, Juraj Starovecký, Juraj Toman, Petra Vojteková) works from recent years, involving several media – painting, photography, object, video, digital drawing. The artworks reflect various aspects of the romanticising view, while the emotional and intimate, wistful perception prevail.
The exhibition can be seen in the Bratislava City Gallery’s (GMB) Pálffy Palace in Panská 19 until May 31 (daily except Monday between 11:00 and 18:00).
