AN EXHIBITION offering a cross-section of the Slovak architecture of the 20th century, titled Impulses and Reflections, will open on October 29 at the Architektur im Ringturm Gallery in Vienna.
The exhibition is organised by the Slovak Architecture Society (SAS) in cooperation with Wiener Städtische Versicherung. Curated by Adolph Stiller from the Technical University in Graz, the exhibition captures the architectural development in Slovakia from 1900 until today. There are over 100 boards with blueprints and photographs, as well as original projects and models. Part of the exhibition is also a bilingual catalogue.
"Even though Bratislava and Vienna are only tens of kilometres from each other, Slovak architecture is not generally known among our Austrian neighbours," said František Kyselica, director of SAS. "This exhibition is the first opportunity to introduce such a large and complex viewpoint on the whole century of Slovak architectural work."
The exhibition in Vienna will run until the end of February, 2004. The Austrian partner then plans to show the exhibition in Lyon, Milan, Oslo, Graz, Zürich, and in Slovakia.
