Based on the investigation, the police brought charges against four people, including Alena Zs., as they reported on Facebook.

The January 23 raid pertained to the murder of former mayor of Hurbanovo (Nitra Region), László Basternák. The executioner has already been sentenced, but the police are still looking for those who ordered the murder or were somehow involved, the TASR newswire reported.

Basternák, who served as regional politician of non-parliamentary Party of Hungarian Community (SMK), was killed in front of his house on July 9, 2010. He was shot to death by Štefan Kaluz. After murdering Basternák, Kaluz tried to escape. Basternák’s son shot at him with a legally possessed weapon, hitting his elbow.

Kaluz was threatened with a life sentence since he not only killed the ex-mayor, but also possessed a weapon illegally. However, the court sentenced him to only 25 years in prison, TASR reported.
