ARNOLD the eagle, who has become a star in Slovakia after returning from his winter migration to Africa on April 22, has found a new mate.

Arnold, whose migration was monitored by environmentalists and the Slovak public via a transmitter affixed to his back, returned to Slovakia to find his nest taken over by his former mate and another male eagle.

On April 28, environmentalists reported some good news: Arnold has found a new mate.

“After the not very good news from the past few days we can finally report some joyful information,” Pavol Majko of the Tatra National Park said, as quoted by TASR. “On Friday April 25 Arnold was caught with his new sweetheart directly in their most intimate moments.”

Arnold’s nest is monitored by a webcam which broadcasts live images via the kukaj.sk website.

Environmentalists say they watched Arnold mating with his new lady on a tree on the edge of the forest. The new mate is very responsive, according to Majko.

“She returned Arnold’s love by bringing him a reward - a freshly caught vole,” he said.

For the moment it seems that Arnold and his mate will build a new nest, however.
