Daffodil Day yields nearly €200,000 in Bratislava

Preliminary figures suggest that close to €200,000 was collected by the League Against Cancer (LPR) in Bratislava on this year’s Daffodil Day on Friday, April 16, the League's PR manager, Martina Myjavcová, told the TASR newswire on April 17. Figures on the entire amount raised throughout Slovakia will be available within three weeks, she added. Some 15,600 volunteers took to the streets nation-wide handing out daffodils in exchange for a voluntary contribution. The funds are to be invested into cancer research and help for patients. The overall number of flowers handed out on Friday reached more than 1.3 million, added Myjavcová.
